1. About this policy
This policy explains how ServiceClerk uses cookies and similar browser technologies on serviceclerk.co.uk and within the ServiceClerk application.
ServiceClerk is operated by NC, trading as ServiceClerk, of Stanley Court, Olney, Milton Keynes, MK46 5NH.
You can contact us at info@serviceclerk.co.uk. For more information about how we use personal data, please read our Privacy Notice.
2. What cookies are
Cookies are small files stored by a website on your device. Similar technologies include secure browser storage and notification permissions.
They can be used to keep a user signed in, protect an account, remember a choice or provide a feature the user has requested.
3. How ServiceClerk uses cookies
ServiceClerk currently uses only the following types of cookies and similar technologies.
Essential cookies and security
We use essential cookies and similar technology to:
- keep users signed in;
- protect accounts and forms from unauthorised use;
- maintain secure sessions;
- complete registration, contact and other requested actions; and
- remember temporary information needed while a user moves through the Service.
These can remain for up to 30 days, but may expire or be removed sooner. Signing out or clearing ServiceClerk data from the browser may remove them.
These cookies are needed for ServiceClerk to work securely. If you disable them in your browser, you may not be able to sign in or use some features.
Remembering a trusted browser
After successfully completing multi-factor or passkey authentication, a user may choose to have ServiceClerk remember that browser. This helps reduce repeated security checks on that device.
The remembered-browser information is used only when the user actively selects that option. It can remain for up to 30 days unless the user revokes it, signs out, clears the site's browser data or ServiceClerk removes it sooner. ServiceClerk may still require authentication again when appropriate for security.
Push notifications
ServiceClerk uses browser-notification technology only when a user actively enables notifications and grants permission through their browser or device.
The permission and notification subscription normally remain until the user disables them, clears the site's data or the browser or notification provider expires them. Notifications can be disabled through ServiceClerk where that option is available, or through the browser or device settings.
Stripe subscription payments
ServiceClerk uses Stripe to process subscription payments. Stripe's secure payment components may use cookies or similar technologies on subscription and payment pages to prevent fraud, protect payment details, complete authentication and process the payment requested by the user.
ServiceClerk does not receive or store complete card numbers or security codes. Stripe controls its own payment technologies and may retain some fraud-prevention identifiers for up to one year. The exact technology used can depend on the browser, device and chosen payment method.
See Stripe's cookie settings and Stripe's Privacy Center for current details.
4. Analytics and advertising
ServiceClerk does not currently use analytics or advertising cookies on its public website or within the application. We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles or sell information about browsing activity.
If we introduce optional analytics, advertising or another non-essential technology, we will update this policy and obtain consent before using it where UK law requires consent.
5. Your choices
The technologies currently used by ServiceClerk are needed to provide or secure requested features. UK rules do not normally require consent for strictly necessary technologies, but we still explain their use in this policy.
You can:
- sign out of ServiceClerk;
- choose not to have ServiceClerk remember your browser;
- review or remove remembered browsers through the available security settings;
- disable push notifications;
- clear ServiceClerk cookies and site data through your browser; and
- use the privacy controls provided by Stripe for Stripe-operated technology.
Disabling or deleting ServiceClerk's essential cookies may sign you out or prevent some features from working. Clearing cookies does not delete records held in a ServiceClerk account. Please see our Privacy Notice for information about personal-data rights.
6. External services
If a user chooses to connect an external service such as Microsoft/Outlook, Xero, QuickBooks or Mailchimp, the user may be directed to that provider's website. The provider may use its own cookies under its own privacy and cookie information.
ServiceClerk does not control cookies placed on another provider's website.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as ServiceClerk develops during beta, when our technology or providers change, or when legal requirements change. The current version and update date will be shown at the top of this page.
